Every payroll comparison site on the internet takes affiliate commissions. Almost none of them tell you. They'll write "we may earn a commission" in the footer and let you assume it doesn't move the recommendation.
We think that's backwards. Whether a pick pays us is a real fact about the recommendation, so it belongs next to the recommendation — where you can weigh it. When a provider we name is one we're paid on, we flag it right there on the results page, before you click.
How the commissions work
The providers we recommend run their own referral and affiliate programs. When you sign up with one of them through us, we may earn a commission — typically after your first paid month or payroll run, depending on the provider. The amount varies by provider and changes over time as those programs change, so we don't quote a fixed rate here. What never changes is that the commission does not affect the price you pay the provider, and it does not move where a provider lands in your results.
The obvious question
"So won't you just push whichever one pays you the most?" No, and the design is what stops it. A provider gets ruled out for a solo owner or a five-person shop automatically when the rules say it's overbuilt and overpriced at that size — regardless of what it pays us. The engine doesn't see the payout. It sees your setup.
When a heavier, better-paying provider does come up, it's because you told us you're running the kind of setup it actually fits — a 6–20 person crew heading past twenty, say. We'll flag that it's a paid pick right next to it, and you can decide what to make of that. That's the deal.

What we don't take
